Job Description

A Systems Engineer works independently or as part of a team and evaluates and analyzes problems and requirements and develops solutions that provide value to the customer and end user. Additionally, a Systems Engineer:

  • Assists with preparation of documents and demonstrate solutions via flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
  • Helps prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  • Improves operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
  • Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
  • Assists with engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Exp/Required Skills:

2-5 years of experience with the following:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements
  • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
  • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures
  • Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels
  • Ensures data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
  • Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
  • Develops and promotes standard operating procedures
  • Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation
  • Develop and maintain all Configuration Management policy, standards and procedures.
  • Maintain Configuration Management of hardware, software, and documentation.
  • Work with the software development teams maintaining Configuration/Release Management in an Agile development environment.
  • Perform configuration audits on software and documentation to be released to a production environment.
  • Package and migrate the software from the development environment to the production environment.
  • Plan, organize and facilitate Configuration Management Meetings.
  • Hold a strong understanding of configuration management concepts and experience with Configuration Management tools.
  • Have developed, executed, and maintained Configuration Management Plans.
  • Have a solid understanding of DevSecOps methodology to utilize, maintain, and develop CI/CD pipelines that rely on Jenkins and Docker.
  • Familiarity with Oracle is a plus

Education :

BS Degree in Computer Science or related field.
